The Canada Visa:
Canada ‘visitor’s visa’ also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) allows you to enter or re-enter Canada for tourism, business or transit purpose.
All Indians who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada require a visa to enter Canada. The requirement for a Canada Visa also applies to temporary residents who are in transit through Canada.
There are 2 different methods to apply for a Canadian Visa:
Paper Application:
This is regular process in which applicant has to visit VFS on the scheduled appointment date with all the documents and biometrics* are taken on the same day.
Can Plus:
This method allows the applicant to submit the details online along with the necessary fees on the Canadian Government’s Immigration Portal. Canadian High Commission issues notices for the next step to be followed. The Applicant has to visit VFS for the biometrics* & then to submit the passport for visa stamping.
With this method, the applicant retains the passport for the entire duration that the Embassy takes to process the visa application.
*Note: Canadian High Commission has introduced the biometric system for all applicants since 1st Jan 2019. These biometric remains valid for the next 10 years from the date when biometrics are given.
Basic Requirements for Canada Visa:
Tourism / Family or Friend Visit:
- Valid Passports (Valid + Expired) issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least 6 months after the date you intend to leave the Canada with minimum 2 blank pages. Any passport with observations is not accepted
- Air Ticket / Itinerary with intended travel dates if applicable
- Stay Confirmation / Hotel Bookings (if applicable)
- Photographs (2 copies of 35X45mm, white background, 80% face covered, dark clothes, without specs & no smile. Ears should be visible)
- Personal Bank Statement for last 6 months with sufficient funds & attested by bank
- Personal ITR for last 3 years
- Occupation Proof
- Investment Statement like Mutual Fund / Shares / FD etc.
- Residence Proof (Property Tax Receipt / Electricity Bill)
- Invitation letter with Invitees Documents
Business Visit/ Conference or Exhibition Visa:
- Valid Passports (Valid + Expired) issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least 6 months after the date you intend to leave the Canada with minimum 2 blank pages. Any passport with observations is not accepted
- Air Ticket / Itinerary with intended travel dates if applicable
- Stay Confirmation / Hotel Bookings
- Photographs (2 copies of 35X45mm, white background, 80% face covered, dark clothes, without specs & no smile. Ears should be visible)
- Invitation Letter from Canadian Organization or Registration of Conference / Exhibition
- Employer Cover letter with other necessary documents
- Personal Bank Statement for last 6 months with sufficient funds & attested by bank
- Personal ITR for last 3 years
- Occupation Proof
